Maa Kushmanda, fourth form of Goddess Durga, is worhipped on 4th day of Navratri. Due to its slow smile, due to production of egg, its fame has come from name of Kushmada. This form of mother is very much like one who listens to everyone’s call. Mother calm the transience of the mind and gives speed to the person. It is said in the Puranas about this form of mother that when the universe does not exist, Then these Gods had composed the universe. Therefore, this is form of Adi-Swaroop, Adishakti of the universe. Their residence is in the people within the Sun Temple, all the diseases of the devotees are to be eradicated from worship of Mother Kushmanda. Their devotion increases with age, success, strength, Mother Kushmanda is pleased with fewer service and devotion, if a person becomes a refugee from a true heart, then he will get the ultimate position with very simplicity. On this day, name of mother should be meditated, there is no shortage of the person who worshiped this form of mother, she does the separation of the quadruple day and night. As long as he lives on earth, his total population remains as such, his body is like the sun’s bronze. They have eight sides, so they are also called octoblees. In the four hands on the right side of them, the mandals, bow, arrows and lotus are decorated respectively and in the hands of the left side there are nectar urn, chanting garlands, gada and chakra. They have gold ornaments in their ears and a crown of gold on their heads. They sit on the lion.
Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped by chanting the following Mantra’s:
सुरासम्पूर्णकलशं रुधिराप्लुतमेव च ।
दधाना हस्तपद्माभ्यां कूष्माण्डा शुभदास्तु मे ॥
Surāsampūrṇakalaśaṁ rudhirāplutamēva cha |
Dadhānā hastapadmābhyāṁ kūṣmāṇḍā śubhadāstu mē ||
